We promote, support, and unite co-operatives in Saskatchewan.
We believe that co-operatives have the power to transform the world around us. Co-operatives change lives, build better companies, strengthen economies, and empower communities. With our 750+ owner-members, we advance initiatives that promote, support, and unite co-operatives in Saskatchewan.
Right now, our focus is on three critical areas: Co-operative Advocacy, Youth Engagement, and Leadership Recognition. We offer the annual Merit Awards, develop resources for local co-op development, and create new opportunities for youth to address issues vital to them in the community using the co-operative model.
Looking ahead, we will collaborate to create a Saskatchewan where co-operatives help reduce poverty, equitably share community wealth and inspire an new generation of co-operative leaders.
What is a co-operative?
A co-operative is a values-based business or organization owned and controlled by its members to meet their shared needs. The members can be its customers, employees, residents or suppliers, who have a say in how the co-op is run. Co-operatives are structured around seven principles deeply rooted in democracy, economic participation, and sustainable growth of the businesses and communities they serve.
Start your own co-op.
Co-operatives bring workers together to share ownership in their business, giving everyone a voice. They give more money back to worker-owners and offer better benefits compared to similar investor-owned businesses.
